Key Ingredient

Melatonin, also known as the sleep hormone, is naturally produced by the body. It is synthesized from serotonin and secreted from nightfall by the pineal gland. Its concentration peaks around 2:00 a.m., reaching levels 10 to 100 times higher than those measured during the day. Once this peak has changed, the amount of melatonin secreted decreases to make way for the waking phase. Melatonin helps synchronize the circadian rhythm (24 hours), accelerate sleep and improve the duration and quality of sleep. Some foods contain it naturally, such as pistachios, black rice or cow's milk, but the content can vary greatly depending on various criteria such as the duration of sunlight, the time of harvest or milking for animals. Melatonin, in natural supplements, can be derived from animal, vegetable or synthetic sources. The melatonin contained in our sublingual tablets is synthetic.

Can you take melatonin continuously?

Melatonin supplements are not intended for long-term use and should not exceed four weeks, long enough to improve sleep or adjust the sleep cycle. For continuous supplementation longer than 1 month, consult a healthcare practitioner.

Is melatonin addictive?
No, Melatonin is not addictive and does not induce a feeling of withdrawal.

Can we increase the dose of melatonin when there is no result?

Melatonin is a hormone naturally secreted by the pineal gland, the deficiency of which is rarely observed and which does not necessarily cause a sleep disorder. However the level of secretion varies from person to person which means that the dose needed to help us sleep can vary from person to person. Taking a higher dose or more than needed can lead to ineffectiveness of melatonin. It is therefore important to start with the lowest dose and increase as needed after a few days (adaptation period) if there are no results without exceeding the 10 mg dose. Contrary to popular belief, a higher dosage of melatonin does not make you sleep more, and may even cause the opposite effect. According to recent literature, a dose of 0.3 and 0.5 mg of melatonin would be sufficient for the majority of people.

Can melatonin be given to children?

No, our melatonin is for adults. Please consult a doctor, the only person authorized to prescribe melatonin to children.
