What it does

A combination of melatonin (5 mg), passionflower, chamomile, and 5-HTP (5-hydroxy-tryptophan) that will help those who suffer from insomnia due to stress and nervousness. Melatonin acts on the pineal gland, which is responsible for the day/night cycle of our body. Passionflower is a popular remedy against stress and agitation, which acts on the GABA receptor and, thus, provides a relaxing and calming effect. Chamomile is traditionally used to relieve nervousness and agitation. The 5-HTP is an amino acid precursor of serotonin. It helps regulate sleep and mood. This product is intended for consumers who know their need for melatonin. Each individual naturally secretes a different amount of melatonin. It is therefore essential to find the dosage that suits you in melatonin, because the needs can be different for each individual. Dosage is key, as too much melatonin can have the opposite effect and prevent you from falling asleep. It is recommended to start with the lowest dose and gradually increase until you find the one that suits you best.

Key ingredients?

  • Melatonin, also commonly called the sleep hormone, is naturally produced by the body. It is synthesized from serotonin and secreted from nightfall by the pineal gland. Its concentration peaks around 2:00 a.m., reaching concentrations 10 to 100 times higher than those measured during the day. Once this peak has ended, the quantity of melatonin secreted decreases to make way for the waking phase. Melatonin allows to synchronize the circadian rhythm (24h), to accelerate the falling asleep, and to improve the duration and the quality of the sleep. The melatonin used in our formula is synthetic.
  • The German chamomile, Matricaria chamomilla, is often confused with the Roman chamomile, Chamaemelum nobile. Having similar digestive properties, German chamomile has soothing and relaxing properties. Used since antiquity, it helps in relieving nervousness and gastrointestinal disorders.
  • Passionflower, Passiflora incarnata, also known as passion fruit flower, is a climbing herb with splendid brightly colored flowers. Discovered by the Spanish explorers, they learned its uses from the Aztecs. Numerous studies have suggested its effectiveness on sleep disorders of nervous origin.
  • 5-HTP, from the seeds of Griffonia simplicifolia, a herb native to West Africa, is an amino acid precursor of serotonin, the so-called happiness hormone. This molecule plays a role in the regulation of sleep and mood.

Can you take melatonin continuously?

Melatonin supplements are not intended for long-term use and should not exceed four weeks, long enough to improve sleep or adjust the sleep cycle. For continuous supplementation longer than 1 month, consult a healthcare practitioner.

Is melatonin addictive?

No, Melatonin is not addictive and does not induce a feeling of withdrawal.

Can we increase the dose of melatonin when there is no result?

Melatonin is a hormone naturally secreted by the pineal gland, the deficiency of which is rarely observed and which does not necessarily cause a sleep disorder. However the level of secretion varies from person to person which means that the dose needed to help us sleep can vary from person to person. Taking a higher dose or more than needed can lead to ineffectiveness of melatonin. It is therefore important to start with the lowest dose and increase as needed after a few days (adaptation period) if there are no results without exceeding the 10 mg dose. Contrary to popular belief, a higher dosage of melatonin does not make you sleep more, and may even cause the opposite effect. According to recent literature, a dose of 0.3 and 0.5 mg of melatonin would be sufficient for the majority of people.

Can melatonin be given to children?

No, our melatonin is for adults. Please consult a doctor, the only person authorized to prescribe melatonin to children.
