What it does

Our controlled-release bilayer tablet formula, recommended to prevent nocturnal awakenings (fragmented sleep), acts in 2 stages. The first layer, which dissolves quickly, provides 5 mg of melatonin for rapid sleep and magnesium, the deficiency of which affects the day/night cycle and the secretion of melatonin. The second layer provides California poppy, with analgesic and relaxing properties, plus another 5 mg of delayed and sustained-release melatonin to prevent nighttime awakenings and help increase sleep duration. Each individual naturally secretes a different amount of melatonin. It is therefore essential to find the dosage of melatonin that suits you, because the needs may be different for each individual. Dosage is key, as too much melatonin can have the opposite effect and prevent you from falling asleep. It is advisable to start with the lowest dose and gradually increase until you find the one that suits you best.

How to take it

Adults (18 years and older) :  Take 1 tablet once a day, at or before bedtime.

For jet lag, take once a day at bedtime, while travelling, and at destination until adapted to the new time zone/or daily pattern.

Non-medicinal ingredients (alphabetical order): Croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, peppermint natural flavour, silicon dioxide, sodium copper chlorophyllin.

Warning

Consult a health care practitioner if sleeplessness persists for more than 4 weeks (chronic insomnia).

Do not use this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Avoid taking with alcohol or products that cause drowsiness and/or with analgesic properties.

Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking medications for seizure, blood pressure, to suppress the immune system (immunosuppressive medications), to affect mental state or increase sedation, steroids or blood thinners. Key ingredients

Melatonin, also commonly called the sleep hormone, is naturally produced by the body. It is synthesized from serotonin and secreted from nightfall by the pineal gland. Its concentration peaks around 2:00 a.m., reaching concentrations 10 to 100 times higher than those measured during the day. Once this peak has ended, the quantity of melatonin secreted decreases to make way for the waking phase. Melatonin synchronizes the circadian rhythm (24 hours), accelerates sleep, and improves the duration and quality of sleep.  In Canada, melatonin used in natural supplements can be of animal, plant or synthetic origin. The melatonin in our formula is synthetic.

Magnesium is an essential mineral for good health. It is essential in many reactions of the body especially for the heart, the bones and the muscles.

The California poppy, or Eschscholtzia californica, is an herb belonging to the family of poppies. Native to Western America, particularly California, it was already used by the Amerindians who consumed the boiled or roasted leaves for its relaxing and sleep-inducing qualities. Its intense yellow petals also make it a beautiful ornamental herb.
